in collaboration with Staccioli engineering studio

The new building replaces an abandoned industrial warehouse that occupied the entire area of the lot starting from a high stone wall that circumscribes the area in adherence to the public road. The aforementioned wall, completely devoid of windows and doors, and urbanistically protected, compels the new building into a back position to allow the houses to be overlooked along this side. The new building therefore develops mainly longitudinally with the only access positioned at the head of the building with the parking area located at street level and, on the upper level, the pedestrian path that allows you to reach all the houses. This apparently complex distribution system actually makes it possible to organise all of the accommodations as individual terraced houses which, taking advantage of the significant difference in level present between the two fronts of the intervention area, are developed on two staggered levels. On the inner side of the area, more protected and better exposed, in each accommodation there is the living room with a view facing the hills. On the street side, at a slightly lower altitude, the kitchen overlooks a small patio bordered by the existing wall on which a pergola rests which makes this space liveable as an extension of the apartment. This has allowed the creation of unusual and articulated interior spaces where the ordinary division into rooms is overcome and replaced by changes in height with which the various areas of the villa are functionally differentiated while maintaining an uninterrupted visual continuity that expands the perception of space.
