Luxury apartment Duomo

in progress

The project is aimed at the creation of a sort of historic residence to be offered to well-educated international tourists, interested in experimenting; in addition to the artistic heritage offered by the city, these tourists will be seeking a concept of interior design that goes beyond usual vernacular styles. The construction is located inside a highly attractive building on a corner and is just one step away from Piazza Duomo, in one of the rare Art Nouveau buildings built in Florence in the early 1920s: Palazzo Pola e Todescan. The wonderful external facade decorated with majolica and bas-relief friezes does not correspond to the disfigurement of the interiors which over the years, due to subsequent building-work and changes in use, have lost all those original decorative elements of the time.

The new constructive intervention, therefore, aims to restore the quality of the lost design through a language, a “style”, of contemporary architecture that permeates every single detail, using fine materials enriched by the inclusion of some pieces of furniture made by the major Italian design brands. The concept of such an intervention which is aimed at offering a perception of hospitality – combining historical significance with modernity with the utmost degree of attention regarding new technologies and refined materials – has been studied in order to be repeated in further, future intervention work all over the Italian peninsular.
