Restoration and Extension Project – Ex-Hotel Cueto – 6000 sq.m Havana, Cuba

This is a project proposal for the reconstruction of a 5-star hotel within the grounds where the Hotel Cueto was located at the beginning of the last century, one of the most renowned hotels in Havana. The context within which the project is situated has required extreme attention as the area for the construction work is located in the heart of the historic district of the city, a place fully classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The project involves the creation of a form of contemporary architecture that enhances and underlines the pre-existing historical elements, such as the two facades facing the famous Plaza Vieja recognised as one of the most representative examples of Art Nouveau.
